Heartland Human Care Services offers its employees a great variety of benefits. Employees working 20 hours per week are eligible for most benefits including medical, dental, and vision insurance as well as 401k.
Heartland is proud to offer this generous paid-time-off benefit package. The summary below shows the total for a first-year employee. Paid time off is a benefit offered to eligible employees who work at least 20 hours per week.

Eligible employees accrue vacation after 90 days of service. Vacation days accrued are pro-rated for part-time employees based on their full-time equivalent hours. Vacation days can be rolled over-up to 80 hours and can be taken in increments of 2 hours.

Eligible employees get a total of 5 Personal Business days per year and one floating holiday. Personal days are accrued on a quarterly basis. One floating holiday is provided at your start date. Part time employees accrue personal days pro-rated based on their full-time equivalent. Employees hired after September 1, do not accrue personal time or receive a floating holiday until the start of the next calendar year. Personal business time and floating holidays expire December 31st.

Employees working a minimum of 20 hours per week are eligible for medical insurance. Coverage begins the first of the month following the first 30 consecutive days of benefits eligible employment. Heartland Human Care Services offers a few options for medical insurance:
New employees must enroll in a medical plan within 31 days of benefits eligible employment and may not change from one plan to another until Open Enrollment. If an employee chooses not to participate in a Heartland Human Care Services medical plan, an opt out provision is offered of $66.67 per month for each benefits month of non-participation provided the required documentation is submitted.
Employees who elect our medical insurance program are eligible to participate in Well onTarget. Well onTarget is an interactive and personalized wellness program that makes it easy for you to live your healthiest life and rewards members for improving their health. You will receive a discount on your medical premium for participating and completing a wellness discount enrollment and acknowledgement form.
Employees working a minimum of 20 hours per week are eligible for dental insurance. Coverage begins the first of the month following the first 30 consecutive days of benefits eligible employment. Heartland Human Care Services offers two options for dental insurance:
Employees scheduled for at least 20 hours per week are eligible to enroll for Medical and/or Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA). These accounts are a way to save for expenses on a pre-tax basis.
Under the Mass Transit Benefit, eligible employees are able to pay for commuting expenses to and from work with tax-free dollars through employee salary reduction.
Provided sufficient funds are available, Heartland Human Care Services will provide educational assistance to a maximum of $2,000 per fiscal year to all eligible employees for courses that are part of a degree, licensing, or certification program must be related to the employee’s current job duties.
Employees may enroll in direct deposit of their payroll checks at a banking institution of their choice, provided that required documents are completed and submitted, including proof of bank account information.
As of January 1, 2022, Employees are eligible to start contributing their own funds to their 401(k) account on the 1st of the month after completion of 30 days of benefits eligible employment.
In addition, Heartland will automatically contribute 3% of the employee’s base annual salary to a 401(k) account on either January 1st or July 1st, whichever date falls soonest after the first of the month following 6 months of employment. As soon as employees are eligible for Heartland’s contributions, employees become 100% vested.
Heartland Human Care Services offers employees working a minimum of 30 hours per week, free basic life and accidental death and dismemberment insurance. Coverage begins the first of the month following the first 30 consecutive days of benefits eligible employment.
Employees working a minimum of 30 hours per week can purchase additional group life insurance for themselves and their spouse, approved domestic partner and/or dependent children. Coverage begins the first of the month following the first 30 consecutive days of benefits eligible employment.
Any employee working 30 hours per week receive free long term and short term disability insurance. Both STD and LTD insurance guarantees a percentage of your income (66 2/3%) if you meet the disability requirements set forth by the insurance company due to a sickness or injury. Coverage begins the first of the month following the first 30 consecutive days of benefits eligible employment.
